Minimally Invasive Vein Stripping - Overview
(Invaginate Vein Removal)Varicose veins may be surgically removed by any one of several methods. The process of invaginate vein stripping of the larger abnormal superficial veins has several advantages over other widely practiced methods of vein stripping. The invaginate vein removal technique involves stripping the vein into itself in a manner similar to turning a stocking inside out.
The benefits of using this technique include:
- A lower incidence of injury to the surrounding sensory nerves of the foot
- Smaller more cosmetically appealing incisions
- Minimal amount of bruising
- Performed as an outpatient surgery
